Gospel simply means "Good News". More specifically, it is the Good News about Jesus. God created us for a relationship with Himself. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". God is perfect, but He also loves us. The Bible says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." Jesus, through His sacrifice upon the cross, makes it possible to be accepted by a perfect God. In order to receive God's forgiveness and come into a relationship with Him, we must do three things. First, we must Repent, which means to turn away from all that we know to be wrong. Saying sorry for what we have done wrong, and asking God to forgive us. Second, we must Believe. We believe that Jesus died upon the cross taking the punishment for our sin upon Himself. Third we must Receive. John 1:12 says, "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." You can receive Jesus now by inviting Him to come into your life. Thank Him for dying upon the cross for your sin, asking Him to forgive you, making Him your Lord and Savior, and saying that from this moment forward, I will live to please You and not myself. If you have taken these three steps, you have now entered into the family of God, and have become a real Christian.
